Three reasons why she loves FRANKiE4

1. Foot length and leg health is so important to me. Even if I'm working from home, I slip on my FRANKiE4 sneakers, knowing that I'm looking after myself.
2. The Sole Saver pack makes every pair adjustable to my foot shape - and that can change throughout the day, especially when it's warm.
3. They look so good! Let's face it, comfort maybe key but I still want my sneakers to elevate my outfits.

The Timeless Trend

I’ll admit that when the “sneakers with everything” trend first emerged I had a sense of fashion deja vu. I mean, didn’t I embrace this for backpacking in Europe in 1986, complete with stonewash jeans and a Ken Done sweatshirt? OF COURSE I did. What self-respecting Aussie backpacker in the 1980s didn’t?

Now in my 50s and with my backpacking days so very far behind me, I’ve learned to never say never when a fashion trend comes around again. Incorporating a do-over trend is not about replicating how you wore it the first or second time around (thank goodness). It’s about taking it and giving it a fresh update.

That’s what’s happened with the sneaker trend.

Today’s sneaker outfits embrace a contrast of casual and dressed up; contrast the casual look of sneakers, jeans and a tee with the structure of a blazer. Bring a comfortable, yet fun element to a dress outfit by swapping sandals for sneakers. The ultimate in casual/dressy sneaker looks comes when you work back an elevated fabric, for example a satin midi skirt, back with a sneaker and blazer. It’s the juxtaposition of casual and elevated in one outfit that brings a sneaker outfit into the 2020s.

Your age has nothing to do with how you style a sneaker look. It’s about the attitude and confidence you bring. Best of all, your feet and legs will thank you with every step.

Age: 67
Occupation: blogger and social media marketer
How has your style changed over the past 10 years? Having moved out of the corporate world I feel much freer with my style choices. I'm more confident and inclined to try new things. A couple of years ago I would not, for example, have considered sneakers with a dress, but now I love the look. But underneath all that my style remains classic and largely smart casual, with the occasional touch of boho.
Do your dress for your attitude or your age? Definitely for my attitude. I refuse to be defined by my age.
Who or what is your greatest style influence? Historically my Mum who was always well dressed and her adage was to buy the best you can afford. These days, many women on Instagram inspire me.

Recently I worked with Jan and Jane to put this advice into practice.

How has your style changed over the past 10 years? I love colours that brighten not only me up, but often see me on the receiving end of compliments from strangers!

Do your dress for your attitude or your age? I definitely dress for myself, and my attitude is what I like! I don't think about age.

Who or what is your greatest style influence? It has to be my daughter. She has shown me how I can wear clothes that I like and to not get concerned about what others may think.
