Women on the frontline

Women on the frontline

Podiatry & physiotherapy is part of our design DNA, with hospital workers and hardworking feet being a large part of where our heart has always been.

We know ‘Australia’s hardest working feet’ - we have a
2nd-to-none range that not only strategically supports and cushions the foot, but also comes in anti-slip styles and water-resistant uppers to tick your boxes.

We acknowledge that many of our FRANKIE4 tribe and women on the frontline are currently encouraged to disinfect their workwear at the end of every shift - we've got you!

Whilst others rely on you, you can rely on your FRANKIE4s because of the high quality materials we use and how we construct our shoes.

We’ve collated our recommendations to make it easy for you to clean your FRANKIE4s.

1. RECOMMENDATION FOR CLEANING

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations state that if used appropriately, 70% alcohol based products, and diluted household bleach in a ratio of 1: 100 with a 5% active hypochlorite ingredient , are acceptable chemical disinfectants.

You should have confidence in the quality materials utilised in our shoes to withstand the cleaning procedure with these chemical disinfectants*.

*please note we have only tested this process on selected styles & colourways, as listed in our disclaimer.

2. CLEANING PRODUCTS WE HAVE TESTED

We have tested a variety of products including wipes, spray and bleaches, that you may have already stored in your home.

3. OUR TESTING RESULTS

We have really put our beloved favourites Jackie*, Nat*, Ellie*, Tambo*, Billie* and Addi* to a disinfectant assessment.

We are proud to stand by our shoes because of the quality materials and way we construct them, and you should have confidence in them too.

*please note we have only tested this process on selected colourways of these styles, as listed in our disclaimer.

LIQUID BLEACH

According to The World Health Organisation, bleach solutions last for approx. 12-15 hours with the active ingredients working properly.

We recommend mixing a fresh batch of bleach solution daily and to use protective gloves to limit skin sensitivities.

In a well ventilated area, using a soft cloth wet with the bleach, wipe the upper leathers/materials of the shoes. No need to rinse off.
Provide time for the shoes to air dry in shade before wearing again.

SPRAY/WIPING

If utilising a 70% alcohol spray or concentrated wipes, ensure that the spray, or the wipe, goes directly on the leather. Spray the leather directly and wipe with a soft cloth to ensure all surfaces are covered. No need to rinse off. Provide time for the shoes to air dry in shade before wearing again.

4. GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR FRANKIE4S

NOURISH + COLOUR RESTORE

Leather is a natural product that will, in time, show signs of wear. Applying products, such as bleach, may result in the signs of wear showing sooner than we would normally expect from our leather products.

Discolouration, drying, or wrinkling of the leather may become noticeable. If you are disinfecting your footwear we strongly suggest nourishing the leathers to help moisturise and colour rejuvenate.

For our leather based styles we recommend the Shucare Renovating Polish in Black/Dark Navy or Waproo Renovating Polish in Black/Navy. Products to be used based on their usage guidelines.

CAN'T HAVE LACES? NO WORRIES!

Should you be instructed to remove laces from your shoes our Nat, Billie and Addi styles will still tick your boxes.

Nat can be worn without laces because she has a hidden elastic.

LOVE YOUR Tambos, Jackies or Ellies?

Swap out our lace for silicone laces instead.

ON HIGH ROTATION

We also recommended that you look to allow your shoes to be on rotation.

As the harsher cleaning process may result in signs of wear sooner then normal, we don’t want that the reason for you not to have FRANKIE4 supporting your feet.
Having two pairs on rotation will allow your shoes not only an opportunity to dry well between shifts, but will also halve the amount each pair needs to be disinfected.
